The Rosewood Bee Experience

Step inside the world of the honeybee and discover the roots of Rosewood Estates Winery.

For three generations, beekeeping has been at the heart of the Roman family story. Long before Rosewood became known for its wines and meads, it began with bees. The Rosewood Bee Experience offers a rare opportunity to step beyond the tasting room and into a working apiary to experience that heritage firsthand.

Led by one of our experienced beekeepers, guests will journey to the Estate Apiary for an immersive exploration of honeybee biology, hive management, honey production, and the vital role pollinators play in our food system. After a safety orientation and suiting up in professional protective gear, you'll have the opportunity to open a living hive and witness thousands of honeybees working together in remarkable harmony.

During the experience, you'll learn how a colony functions, how honey is produced, and what it takes to care for bees throughout the seasons. With a little luck, you may even spot the Queen Bee herself.

This hands-on experience is designed for curious minds of all backgrounds. Whether you're fascinated by nature, interested in sustainable agriculture, or simply looking for a memorable Niagara experience, the Rosewood Bee Experience offers a unique glimpse into one of the world's most extraordinary creatures.

The experience runs approximately 2 to 2.5 hours and is limited to just 10 guests per tour to ensure a personal and engaging visit. Participants must be 12 years of age or older. The Rosewood bee experience only runs during the summer months and is weather dependant. 

All required protective equipment, including beekeeping jackets, veils, and gloves, is provided. Guests are asked to wear closed-toe footwear, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Light-coloured clothing and ankle-height boots are recommended for comfort around the hives.

Reservations are required as space is limited.
